About This Place

Located in the heart of Aspen, Colorado, White House Tavern is a standout American restaurant that masterfully blends traditional flavors with contemporary flair. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and attentive service, this dining spot offers guests a refined yet approachable experience, making it a perfect destination for both locals and visitors craving quality fare in a warm, inviting setting.

White House Tavern’s menu is a rich celebration of classic American dishes elevated with fresh, thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Signature items like the Honor Burger, made from fresh ground chuck topped with melted white cheddar, ripe tomato, and a lively spicy slaw, deliver a perfect harmony of textures and flavors that linger memorably on the palate. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich is another favorite—served on a housemade torta with Swiss cheese and the same zesty slaw, it offers a satisfying crunch and savory depth that keep diners coming back.

Seafood lovers will delight in the Gulf Coast Style Fish Sandwich, showcasing today’s perfectly crispy fish, complemented by sharp red onion and creamy thousand island dressing. Meanwhile, the French Dip Au Jus reigns supreme as a crowd-pleaser, featuring thinly sliced roasted prime rib piled high on toasted housemade French rolls, infused with a luscious au jus that is both comforting and decadently flavorful.

The menu extends beyond sandwiches with irresistible starters and shareables like the House-Smoked Salmon served with Chef’s dressing and toast, the creamy Dip Duo of jalapeño queso and guacamole with crisp tortilla chips, and farmfresh Deviled Eggs brightened with Ding’s pickle relish and scallions. For those seeking a bit of Southern charm, the Peruvian Chicken Meatballs glazed in mole amarillo with green sauce provide a punch of taste and sophistication, while the Southern Style Brussels Sprouts tossed with lemon aioli and Reggiano cheese offer a tangy, rich finish.

To elevate the meal further, White House Tavern boasts an excellent selection of drinks including refreshing Aperol Spritz, a crisp Kolsch, expertly crafted Bloody Marys, and smooth Crisp Martinis, expertly paired with their diverse dishes, ensuring every palate is satisfied.

Guests consistently praise the restaurant’s impeccable service and atmosphere. One diner, Daniel, noted how the quality of ingredients, especially the fresh salads and vegetables, made a lasting impression after a string of European bites. Kevin Warden raved about the French Dip, calling it “the most incredible” he has ever experienced. Families also find White House Tavern inviting—the menu balances sophistication with kid-friendly options, making it an inclusive spot for all ages, as Ohad Kott warmly highlighted.

Whether dropping in for lunch with friends or enjoying a leisurely dinner, the ambiance at White House Tavern is lively yet relaxed, with spacious seating that fosters a convivial dining experience. The attentive and friendly waitstaff enhance the visit, elevating it beyond just a meal into a cherished Aspen culinary tradition.

Everything how it should be. For Europeans: after 10 days i managed to eat for the first time fresh salad and vegetables. Quality food, for a slightly higher price (Aspen...) and really nice waitresses who made our lunch 10/10. Can only recommend it!

The best French dip, cocktails, and more. Love the high top tables and the staff.

We had the pleasure of dining here for lunch with friends during a quick visit to Aspen last week. It’s always a great experience but it’s particularly refreshing to see a restaurant staff on their “A-Game” when mediocrity has become the norm so many places. Everything about our lunch was great, but especially the professional service.

Fantastic restaurant. Food tasted great. Worth the long wait for a table (over an hour for a party of 4), especially if you have other things to do around Aspen. The kids loved the food. Plenty of other families with kids dined around us. The menu had just the right level of sophistication that elevated it beyond the simplicity but still allowed it to be done well without alienating the kids. Service was attentive and allowed accommodation for food allergy. Sitting on the patio near the road has its disadvantages. Noise from the cars and motorcycles passing by often distracted from the atmosphere. But on a sunny afternoon I would still recommend sitting outside.

The most incredible French Dip I've ever experienced. Fries are pretty darned good as well. 10/10 highly recommend!

This quaint little tavern does its best to make you feel like your in your local hole-in-the-wall, at ease and without pressure, with a classy twist. The chef was attentive and even seating people at the door as needed. Food was fast and delicious, although something about servers grouped together on their phones always draws a bit of a side eye. Great food and service otherwise, will return and certainly recommend.
